Hay Fever Desensitisation – Act Now!
Did you know that you can take a pill to desensitise yourself against pollen? Rather than weekly injections, this pill is taken for six months during the off-season.
Treating hay fever with oral medication can:
- decrease hay fever and asthma medication usage
- result in fewer trips to hospital emergency departments for those with allergic asthma
- enhance your quality of life through better symptom management, improved quality of sleep and complete every day activities with ease
- avoid use of needles
Weekly injections used to be the gold standard for desensitisation, but now an oral tablet is just as suitable for many patients. It’s important to act quickly and start taking this medication for six months before hay fever season starts, allowing you to get ahead of your allergies and be fully protected by the time it rolls around.
Hay Fever Doctor
Book an initial assessment with Dr Albert lp to determine if you’re suitable for testing and desensitisation so that you can stop hay fever before it starts.
A simple lung function test may be required prior to your second appointment for skin prick testing. Based on the results, Dr lp will discuss your treatment options and whether desensitisation medication is the answer for you.
Your third visit will be to start treatment. Some patients may need further testing or if you are not eligible you may be referred to other specialists. After six months of oral medication, once hay fever season arrives, you’ll be fully protected and no longer have to suffer from allergies affecting your quality of life.
Please Note: We do not do food or inorganic skin testing.
